Peace Out

Seeing that it was Earth Day this week, I guess I was inspired to wear something kinda "green". That's me - one day in a ball skirt, the next day looking like a hippie. My style and tastes have such a wide range.

I braided my hair, and honestly if I tried to do this again I probably couldn't replicate it. I love the purposefully messy/effortless hair, but sometimes it takes me longer to make it look like that than if I were to just style it like normal! The trick here is that I had my hair colored/curled the day before. I did not wash it so it had some great texture. I followed this tutorial where you pin half of your hair up first to give the illusion of the braid starting before it really does.

This peace sign t-shirt is from Lucky Brand from a few years ago. I just love all the colors against the army green. The "grandpa" sweater is from Matilda Jane and I just love all the details on their clothes - like these mismatched buttons.

This butterfly necklace I made was published in the Spring 2013 issue of Jewelry Affaire. The colors match the tee so well.
Lastly, when I bought my first pair (well, first pair since I was a kid) of Minnetonkas last summer, I could not decide on a color. TJ Maxx had the navy ones I got, along with these brown ones trimmed in orange. So I got these too and this was the first time I wore them. I sure am loving my Minnetonkas!

You look great in all of your styles. I feel the same way. I like all different ways of dressing. And that is what is fun about being a girl. There are so many fun different styles to choose from!

That green sweater is perfect with that peace sign shirt. I am so bad. I forgot that it was Earth Day until the end of the day. We were at Disneyland and it was a long day!

That necklace is gorgeous, Heather. You are so talented. I can see why it was featured. It is a work of art.

I need to try my braids that way! Genius to pin it up!

I've given up in trying to braid my hair. I did a good job once but every time since then, it has looked horrible. lol. Great idea with the fake braid thing! So cute!

I love mixing up my style too. I could never commit to one sort of look! I love the peace sign tee. I could see myself wearing that ALL the time. Your hair looks great! I've had long hair for years and have only mastered a messy ponytail and fishtail braid. I'll have to check out the tutorial!
