Trending Denim

I got an email a few weeks ago from Old Navy entitled "The ONE Denim Trend for 2017". It seems my love of the crop flare (first posted about here) is now everywhere! And I could not be more delighted. Since that first pair last Summer, I have bought a few more, so I thought I would share what I've tried and loved which you should be seeing me wear in upcoming posts.

The top two pairs are from Target. I got a dark and light wash, as I tend to do when I find jeans I love.

And..... I wanted to get a few black pairs for work. On the left is the Pilcro Superscript Stepper Ultra High-Rise Jeans from Anthropologie. I found these after Christmas when sale items were an extra 40% off. I was not keen on the raw hi-lo hem though for the office, so I had them hemmed at a local tailor. Already having a finished hem though, are the pair on the right. The Lauren Conrad Kick Crop Bootcut Jeans from Kohl's.

These are just a few options of the many that are out there, at any price point. When searching retail sites, the key words you are going to want to use many vary. They can be referred to as crop flare, kick crop, ankle crop, ankle flare, kick flare, you get my drift..... Some are not as extreme of a flare as others. I've noticed that many of them do have a raw hem, but you can always have that fixed like I did if that is not the look you are going for. Or, if you have an existing pair of flare jeans, you could just chop them off to achieve the same look! I've had a hard time wearing booties with mine. I love how it looks on other, but it just feels frumpy to me. Could very well be the shape of my legs and ankles. I do so LOVE though strappy heels with them! And, I've worn them with ballet flats too.

So there you have it. I've added another staple style to my jean wardrobe. I'll either be in skinny/jeggings, traditional flares, or these crop flares! ALWAYS high rise! You can see some of my other denim advice here.

Got Your Back

Rock & Republic Hi Rise Jeggings - Kohl's
Last year, I fell in love with the versatility of a green utility jacket. It sure does go with almost anything, and provides the most perfect light layer. But you know me.... sure, I have my basic olive jacket but I've always gotta add some personality to the mix! I recently picked this one up once it hit sale plus an extra 40% off! I highly recommend it. The flowy buttondown is one I picked up last year but never featured on the blog yet.

Spring Tease

Who would have thought that you could have bare legs in February in Michigan!?!?! I guess it's no different than a few Novembers ago when I was wearing short sleeves and sandals on the blog! We've had gorgeous weather all week and we always seem to get these Spring teases, only to be snapped back to reality and feeling bummed about it! At any rate, the temps as well as the increase in daylight hours, have been a good jump start on more regular blogging.
Minor detail: I didn't shave my legs. Trust me, I don't have my life THAT put together! Thankfully, I don't have overly dark hairy legs. I am sporting another LuLaRoe dress (the Carly style) and you've probably guessed I have it because it is a peacock print. I now have a peacock printed dress in almost all their styles..... this Carly, this Julia, the Amelia I just posted about, and this Ana. The only one missing is a Nicole and trust me, I have one in mind I am trying to find!
Also wearing: jean jacket from TJ Maxx, necklace from Francesca's, and booties from Sole Society.
Have I ever mentioned that the head designer for LuLaRoe used to design for Anthropologie (and other major retailers)? No wonder why I am so drawn to this brand!

Snowbird

When I first got this dress, I was convinced it was navy blue. In fact, the first few times I wore it, I wore it with navy tights. Finally, I looked at the lining and realized it was in fact black. This was a lucky surprise find at The Loft over New Years Weekend. My parents were in town and Mom and I got to sneak away for a bit. I rarely do "mall" shopping anymore so I feel out of tune with what stores are offering. But The Loft often gives me a pleasant surprise when I do get to visit. This dress was on sale with an extra 60% off sale items, so it was a steal! Being that I own so many peacock prints, it is always excited to come across one that is different. They named the print "snowbird" so it would be easy for it to slip past any "peacock" searches I sometimes do.

Another Amelia

LuLaRoe continues to come out with more and more peacock prints. It was love at first sight with this Amelia dress! This is the third Amelia I own now (see others here and here). You just can't beat being comfortable while looking put together at the same time! Necklace is from JC Penney, tights from Meijer, and this is another pair of the Dolce Vita booties from Target that I was talking about..... I have gotten soooooo much wear out of these this season! They are the Jameson Double Side Zip Booties.

Weekend Peacock

I wore this casual getup for a Sunday of errands when we had unusually warm (60's) weather for February! I had gotten this sweatshirt before the holidays, when Anthropologie first marked it down and was also running an extra percent off sale. Sweatshirts can be hard to be flattering, because they are supposed to be for comfort. But this one, with it's bell sleeves and embroidered/beading detail makes you feel a little more put together when you get dressed. The design is actually a peacock!

I don't think I've mentioned it here before, but I love that Target carries a line of Dolce Vita shoes (DV) because that is a brand that Anthropologie carries. Quite often, you can find replicas of the more expensive styles. Last year, when these slip on booties came out at Anthro, you could barely open up Pinterest for a day without seeing tons of pins and Instagram photos of bloggers wearing them. The Anthro version was $178. I'll take the $34.99 Target version, thank you!

Look-A-Like

It's been a while since I've found an Anthropologie look-a-like, so imagine my excitement when I found this sweater at JC Penney! The lace is a little bit different, but that is the only detail I can see between the two. JC Penney offered it in black and cream, which Anthro did too but they also had a few more colors. I had this sweater on my wish list at Anthro (last Winter) but missed out on it when it hit sale. I am so glad I had a second chance at this.... who doesn't need a classic black sweater with a special detail!
