Virgo

Two things to recap: 1. I love raiding the lounge wear section for "dresses" and/or purchasing dresses that look like nightgowns. 2. 90's girl to the core, I love a strappy dress over a t-shirt.
Now that those things are out of the way, if I haven't said so before I am a Virgo and I take my sign very seriously. Meaning, what is said about Virgos is SO true for me and I love peeking at my horoscope when I need guidance. So when I saw this lounge "dress" at Anthro I thought the print was so fun! I love that the print is black, but also with some navy around the astrological cards so that both colors will go. Of course I wanted to show it styled a few different ways so I belted it and threw a jean jacket over it. Then I put it over a t-shirt. On super hot days you could certainly just wear it on it's own (loose or belted) with some flip flops. It would be a great swim coverup to throw on! I also thought of wearing a t-shirt over it and knotting the t-shirt at the waist. I did a quick search for Virgo t-shirts that would match, and I am so tempted to get the one that says: "Virgo: 50% Nice, 50% Leave Me Alone". Fellow Virgos, is that not the truth or what???

Vibrant

You may remember me posting about the last two years of the Bright Walls mural festival in downtown Jackson. The third and final festival is set for this September - I have not heard about any cancellations or postponements yet. This mural, however, is on the side of an independent pet store right outside of downtown Jackson. For years, fish graced this wall but they were getting very faded. An artist recently redid this wall and I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for this Boden dress! The hard part? The wall faces a gas station, but luckily it was not too busy when I was there and I was able to snap a few shots without having to dodge cars!

Palazzo Problems

Long time fan of wide leg or palazzo pants, but these have me stumped. I usually wear a fitted top or some kind of waist definition with a wider bottom, but with these I am thinking flowy works too? My first three attempts were with solid tops because I loved how my chunky agate necklace matched. First I am wearing a sleeveless black top with a cropped jean jacket. I have this same sleeveless top in magenta and navy that would work too.
The pants have both navy and black in them, so I tried it with a navy tee.
Then I wondered if I would like the pants cropped a bit so I taped the hem to see how that looked with a looser black tee. The pants at full length require a heel and I'm not sure I want to be locked into a heel all of the time. I also love that these flat mint sandals have gold trim which go great with the pants.

Then I tried some pattern mixing. This striped sweater I got over the Winter has all of the exact colors with metallic flecks in the knit!

I think all outfits "work", and I feel like the most likely combo for me would be the loose sleeveless tops or loose tee. But now I have to decide if I want them shortened and if so, how much? To a cropped length or just enough to be full length with flat footwear? I think it would be really fun to find a metallic gold tee so I'll be on the lookout for that.

All other pieces old: Sonoma sleeveless tops and Apt 9 sweater (Kohl's), Massini navy tee (Meijer), black tee (Walmart), agate necklace and jean jacket (TJ Maxx), mint sandals and sunglasses (Target)

Embroidered Excitement

I recently scored this gorgeous embroidered Johnny Was blouse for a steal! It was originally $250, marked down to $75, and then I had a discount code to bring it to $60! The Gap embroidered jeans I've had for a few years - I got them for $16.99. Patterned slides are Universal Thread from Target!

Amazon Nightgown

I'm not a huge Amazon shopper, but I know many items/products have such a cult following that they become their own hashtags. For instance, this Winter I was intrigued by the #amazoncoat (Orolay Woman's Thickened Down Jacket) but it didn't fit me quite right. A few weeks ago, I ran across an article about the #amazonnightgown. Once I looked at it, I realized I had certainly seen these "dresses" from time to time on Instagram and wondered why they hadn't caught my attention before. They totally fit my boho/hippie style. Wait, are those some peacock prints? And, these prints and style really remind me of Spell & The Gypsy pieces. The more I took a look at these $30 and under gowns, the more obsessed I became!

No stranger to loving Spell & The Gypsy, but not loving the high prices, I recently posted about this copycat kimono I got at Marshalls/TJ Maxx and here is a dress I got on Zulily a few years ago. This Amazon style is definitely based on a Spell dress, and many of the prints offered are Spell matches too. Marketed as a dress, it does resemble a housecoat. A mumu. A nightgown. A 70's flower child find. Call it what you will, but I LOVE it!!! And the best part? Aren't we all looking for comfy at home clothes for the foreseeable future? I don't know what could be better than a pretty "housecoat" that looks vintage! I should probably also mention that I am no stranger to raiding the sleepwear section to wear pretty nightgowns as dresses anyway (see evidence here and here).

Read reviews before buying (the biggest complaint is these run small, especially in the chest), and check back for restocks if the print you like is not available. Both of the sellers below offer this dress in about 20 prints at any given time. I've also found some on eBay and Poshmark by looking up these two Amazon brands.

R. Vivimos option
R. Ylposha option

I personally love the flowy look, but I've seen this belted. The chest placket has a seam right under the bust line which I think gives the definition I like anyway. There are two ties on the neckline, so you can wear it completely tied up, only one tied, or both untied (although I would prefer a tank underneath for that option). It is sooooo comfy on, and even though it is long sleeved the fabric is so light I think it will be cool even on a hot summer day. There is elastic at the cuffs, so you can push the sleeves up too if you want. This honestly is one of my favorite purchases of all time. Take a look at #amazonnightgown to see how cute everyone styles these, and before you know it you will be obsessed too!

Jeans Still Fit

These jeans still fit me (from being home for 2 months) but they are snug! It was hard to sit in this chair! Thank goodness I usually only wear dresses in the Summer! Love the mirror image of these peacocks on this top, so I took advantage of the many sales Anthro has been having lately. The brand is Daniel Rainn which I swear I've seen at TJ Maxx. It's currently sold out, but keep checking if you are interested for pop backs.
