Tied Shirts

So... a little announcement here. I am expecting our second child in November! I am so excited to share my pregnancy style with you along the way, as it will involve some fun tips and tricks! I took a lot of pictures of my last pregnancy to scrapbook, but not many were posted here as I wasn't as into the "fashion" part of blogging yet. My son is 3 today (ahhhh!) and I can definitely see how much my style has evolved in just the 4 years since I was pregnant last. It will be different this time too because I will be going through a summer, whereas last time I was going through a winter. I am committed to using what I already have in my closet - whether it is maternity or not - with the goal of showing as much non-maternity as possible so that women can see that they don't have to purchase a whole new wardrobe for such a short period of time.

Both of the looks below were created with dresses and shirts I already had. Once that belly starts growing, you know your button up shirts are not going to fit around that part. So, simply unbutton them up to above your bump and tie them! This is great for those days when a jacket seems too heavy, but it's still not warm enough for bare arms. I have found that shirts like these provide just enough warmth without being too warm.

Yesterday, we went to the zoo for Mother's Day and this is what I wore. Notice the white blob in the back is actually a white peacock fanning it's feathers! I'd like to think it was in response to my dress, but then again I often misinterpret peacock actions for my own selfish reasons! This bright peacock maxi dress was from H & M years ago, Nine West chambray shirt and Minnetonka Mocs from TJ Maxx. When wearing a printed dress, I will probably opt for a solid shirt in chambray or white.

This look I wore last week is the opposite - solid dress + printed shirt. There will be a lot of options for this black J. Crew find from my local consignment shop (years ago as well). It is such a soft jersey material and I just love the length. Here is it paired with my Hanalei Owl Buttondown from Anthropologie, owl necklace I made, and wedges from Steinmart.

Yay! Congratulations! You look beautiful in everything. I love the peacocks behind you. Especially the white one. Really cool! I also love that picture of you to the side and getting to see your sweet baby bump. Lovely. Such a brilliant idea to tie your shirts. I am sure a lot of women will love this tip.

H & M has the neatest stuff. And I always seem to miss the really good stuff (like your peacock dress).

Happy Birthday to your son! : )

So very happy for you, my friend! I can't believe that Richard is now 3! That is a fun age to be! You look positively beautiful no matter what, but I will love seeing how you translate your evolving style during this new journey! Enjoy the day! Erin

Congratulations! Even though I only have one child, I can see how the second one would be easier in many ways.
I love the outfits and I have that same owl shirt. I love the printed maxi skirt too.
Have a great evening,
Stacey
