Another Amelia

 

LuLaRoe continues to come out with more and more peacock prints. It was love at first sight with this Amelia dress! This is the third Amelia I own now (see others here and here). You just can't beat being comfortable while looking put together at the same time! Necklace is from JC Penney, tights from Meijer, and this is another pair of the Dolce Vita booties from Target that I was talking about..... I have gotten soooooo much wear out of these this season! They are the Jameson Double Side Zip Booties. 

Weekend Peacock

I wore this casual getup for a Sunday of errands when we had unusually warm (60's) weather for February! I had gotten this sweatshirt before the holidays, when Anthropologie first marked it down and was also running an extra percent off sale. Sweatshirts can be hard to be flattering, because they are supposed to be for comfort. But this one, with it's bell sleeves and embroidered/beading detail makes you feel a little more put together when you get dressed. The design is actually a peacock!

 

I don't think I've mentioned it here before, but I love that Target carries a line of Dolce Vita shoes (DV) because that is a brand that Anthropologie carries. Quite often, you can find replicas of the more expensive styles. Last year, when these slip on booties came out at Anthro, you could barely open up Pinterest for a day without seeing tons of pins and Instagram photos of bloggers wearing them. The Anthro version was $178. I'll take the $34.99 Target version, thank you!

Look-A-Like

It's been a while since I've found an Anthropologie look-a-like, so imagine my excitement when I found this sweater at JC Penney! The lace is a little bit different, but that is the only detail I can see between the two. JC Penney offered it in black and cream, which Anthro did too but they also had a few more colors. I had this sweater on my wish list at Anthro (last Winter) but missed out on it when it hit sale. I am so glad I had a second chance at this.... who doesn't need a classic black sweater with a special detail!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I took these pictures several weeks ago, but thought what better way to jump back into blogging. Every time I am away from blogging, it’s never an intentional break….. it’s just life! We are in the cold weather/short daylight struggles of outfit pictures right now, as well as getting through the busy holiday season, as well as technical (camera) issues. But, I am determined to get back into it….. I’ve missed it.

While on hiatus from the blog, I took time to reflect on things I had done in the past. When you are in the middle of doing something you enjoy, you might think to yourself it’s something you will ALWAYS do. For instance, will I ever want to completely quit blogging? As much as I missed it, it was also nice to not have the pressure (I put on myself) to do it. Then I got to thinking about bloggers who I really enjoyed following who all of a sudden, one day, just fell off the face of the planet. What happened to them? When you follow someone for a while (or even meet them in person), you feel a connection. You look forward to their next post…. What they have to say…… Even though my blog is still small, I hope there are people who feel that way about it. I don’t think I would ever leave it without at least saying “goodbye”.

One thing that made me think about this, was something that I hadn’t yet announced here. My friend and I ended the lease of our booth at The Antique Mercantile at the beginning of November. We were in business for a full year, but realized with our busy lives that we just couldn’t keep up like we wanted to. We had fun doing it, and know it might be something to revisit in the future. Same with jewelry making – when I was deeply into it, I never thought there would be an end. After doing shows for a while, I pushed myself to get published. Once published, my next goal was to get on a cover. As time went on, I started to see the decline in “paper” magazines and then kids came along and the next thing I knew I wasn’t making jewelry anymore. Again, I know I probably will in the future but it just doesn’t fit right now. 

Anyway, let’s get on to the clothes! There seems to be a connection for me between jackets and The Potting Shed store in Chelsea. This was another I feel in love with – when I was an hour away, not 10 minutes away (so over 2 years ago) – that I saw on their Facebook page. I called to inquire about the price (over $200) and knew there was no way I could justify it. But once I knew the brand, I could get to searching, just like the other jacket I posted about. That Joules raincoat was a pretty quick find, but this one really did take years of patience. I found it this Summer on eBay for about $30!!! What drew me to it? First, the bold print which I’d never seen anywhere else. Then, the fact that it was velvet and a “swing” style which so cute. The faceted buttons are pretty fun too.

Perfect Outfit

This right here, is my idea of a perfect outfit...... good jeans + cute top. Of course, I tend to prefer the boho style, so you will usually find me in flare jeans, flowy tops and braided hair! I can't resist a good whimsical print, so I was immediately drawn to this top with it's cute squirrels, owls and birds. Off to start my day.... make it a good one folks!

Peacock Lace

Y'all know I am an Anthropologie "Sale" shopper..... but every once in a while, I treat myself to a full price item. Especially during my birthday month. I get my birthday discount, and then sometimes I get a wonderful gift card from my dear friend! So when I combine those two things, I can rationalize treating myself to something that is more expensive. 

For the past several years, Anthro has come out with these lace tops and it's followers go crazy over them! You'll see them all over blogs, instagram, pinterest, etc.... and they sell out quick. These tops have the same common design in that they are usually a swing (aka loose or trapeze) design, have a high neckline, and are short sleeved. Usually, they've been white and the designs that are most seen are lemons and pineapples! So, this Fall when they came out with a teal color and a peacock design...... well, you know how that turned out!

I am actually wearing this top backwards. My local store didn't carry it so I had to order it online. When I was reading the reviews, people complained about the pattern placement so I was concerned over whether I'd get a good one. The true front does have a peacock on it, but its head got cut off by the bust seam! I am always up for the challenge of making a piece that I love work for me, so there you go! I left the buttons open, which would have been up the back, so maybe next time I will button them up.

The Ana Dress

I've tried yet another LuLaRoe style..... The Ana which is their maxi dress. Of course the peacock print sold me. It's a bit disguised as a paisley pattern, until you look closer, and I love the Fall colors. So easy and comfy, and I threw a jean jacket over it for the chill that was in the air!
