Welcome to my post about Lorelei's Michael's reader's challenge! As you can see from the first pic, I laid out all of the beads Lorelei picked from Michael's. The only ones I couldn't find were the brown cinnabar. I also laid out a couple of pendant options. I ended up choosing an owl from Nancy of Round Rabbit in a dreamy shade of green.
Instead of using him as a centerpiece, I put him off to the side as a connector. Then, I just started wire wrapping some of the beads in no particular pattern. The other pieces I added were 2 wood circles and instead of wire wrapping them, I used the white chain to integrate them into the piece.
This was really fun and I am pleased with how the necklace turned out. The biggest challenge for me was the size of the holes. The holes in the jade, wood, and cinnabar were large enough for the wire I was using (or even for some cotton cording), but as you all know, pearls have much smaller holes! I had to use some eye pins for those up the back.
I will be listing this necklace - called "Jaded Owl" - in my Etsy shop. But in the meantime, check out the other participants in this challenge with the links below. Thanks Lorelei for organizing this fun event!!!

ooohhhh Heather! I love that you used Nancy's owl in this necklace- it looks great with the beads I picked out! I ended up stringing my beads so I didn't experience the issue with the pearl holes but I will try to be mindful of this when choosing beads for the next challenge!
thanks for playing along!
This is lovely! Clever way to incorporate the white chain.
Love Nancy's owl with the beads. Very clever use of the white chain. Lovely.

So Greenwich village! And you used an OWL!! I loooooove it!!! Fun and chic design, fantastic!
Love the OWL !!!! Great job - I had to use my reamer on the pearls - little stinkers!
Love your design and the Owl is awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
Great piece, Heather! I really like the creative way you incorporated the white chain! It looks wonderful! Also, nice solution for the pearls,I like that you tapered them around the back of the necklace!
I love it!!
Jaded Owl. . .hehehehe!!
You did a great job with the beads Lorelei picked out. I had trouble with the size of the pearl holes too and had to use a different gauge wire for those.
In the end it all worked and I'm having so much fun seeing what we all made.
Yours is great!!
this is a beautiful piece, the handling of the white chain very creative..
i too had some head scratching about the pearl holes..i used headpins..even on the white pearls my cages are held in place by the headpin loops.
Greay use of the white chain. Very creative. Too bad you couldn't find the brown cinnabars. I was lucky that I did not find the jade rounds that were easily replaceable.
This is soooo Intresting and Clever! Just really a Wonderful necklace you have created just Superb!! Wow I am impressed.
Very artsy, I love it!
You have a great design! I struggled with the size of the holes too... I could only find one thing to go through the green pearls and then I had to plug the holes of those brown cubes!! I really like how you made loops with the chain around the wooden rings..very creative!
Wonderful use of color and balance. It all works so well together. I love the owl too. Very nice! Enjoy the day!

Love the owl and Nancy... AND your piece! Great job. I think you did an excellent job of bringing everything together, to create a really well thought-out piece. I love how you've made use of the white chain. It seems to have given folks the most trouble in this challenge. You've risen to the challenge mightily!
Okay, I love that owl! Such a beautiful necklace :) Wasn't this fun?
that owl was the absolute perfect compliment. this couldnt be any cuter if it tried!
Beautiful necklace! It all comes together so perfectly!
What a fun focal - the color of the owl couldn't have been more perfect! The white chain is integrated so well, and the dark wood rings fit so well into the finished design. Beautiful!
Really nice! Your owl is perfect! It is a wonderful necklace.
GORGEOUS!!!! That owl is the perfect choice and I love how you used the white chain.
