Tag Sale Finds

Anthropologie’s Summer Tag Sale is now over, but during the months that they had it I was lucky enough to snag some good pieces. However, they did just start an extra 20% off sale items again today - not sure how long it will last.
This Chambray Swing Top by Adriano Goldschmied was $188 marked down to $59.95 and with the extra 25% off it was $44.96
I am an official chambray convert! From not having any in my closet a few years ago, I find myself gravitating toward it every chance I get now. The style of this top is unique and it’s boxy shape can be a bit tricky, but I like it.
These Talulah Shooties by Latigo were $158.00 marked down to $39.95 and with the extra 25% off they were $29.97
This is my first experience with this brand, and I am impressed. They are well made and the leather is so buttery soft! Ever since my favorite pair of black wedges wore out last summer, I’ve been on the hunt for replacements – so much so that I almost feel like a hoarder of every brand that has something remotely similar! (I’ll do an update post on what worked/what didn’t). But, details like the cutout wood heel and scalloped edge on these beauties really sets them apart. My motto is, anytime you can get a pair of expensive shoes on super sale like this, go for it! Being comfy all day right out of the box? That’s a major plus too!
Pieces I already had were Apt 9 black skirt (Kohl’s), statement necklace & sunglasses (TJ Maxx).

Artsy Past

In my past life, I was really involved in the Arts. I sold my jewelry at least at one show a year...... I had my jewelry published in several magazines....... I exhibited at a museum....... I served on the board of our local art center for 6 years as Treasurer and Secretary.

I even was doing some of this stuff after having Richard.

But now, with 2 kids....... nothing.

That doesn't mean that I still don't love art, but now it's mostly looking at art or buying art. I do have faith that one day, I will be more involved again. So when I came across this tunic, I was naturally drawn to it. It looks like a bunch of oil paintings patched together! There's a black and white portrait of a lady near the top, and I really would rather it be flowers too but oh well!

The necklace I wore, is actually a mini framed painting that I bought at the Art Center years ago.

Meeting Kwazii

A few weeks ago, we took the kids to Sea Life Aquarium in Auburn Hills. We had already been there in the Spring, but when I saw an advertisement for a special event where you could train to be an Octonaut and meet some of the characters...... I was excited! Octonauts is a cartoon we all enjoy, and one of our favorite characters - Kwazii - was going to be there!

If you've been following my blog for a while, you already know I am a "theme" dresser. It's not that hard since I love animal and whimsical prints. Of course I had some "aquatic" threads already, but I just so happened upon this dress the week leading up to our outing. Remember when I talked about Lilly Pulitzer's collaboration with Target this Spring? And how the only way I got a piece was from a resale shop in this post? Well, I had to go to the post office which is in the same "mall" as Target. There was quite a waiting line so I decided to run into Target to kill some time. It was my lucky day because this dress was hanging all by it's lonesome on a rack with other dresses.... someone must have returned it and there is was MONTHS after the sellout collection. It's was a size XS. Never in my life have I been an XS, but that just goes to show how large these items ran. It is snug through my tummy/hips which is the area I need to work on most. Seriously, if you saw me from the side you would think I am 5 months pregnant!

Anyway..... I got the dress and the rest is history. The print of starfish, urchins and sand dollars is so cute! When I wore the same outfit to work the following week, Richard was confused that morning and asked if we were going to the aquarium!

Peachy Keen

I went a little bit outside of my comfort zone by wearing this long layering cardigan as a "main" piece. It's a very sheer fabric, so I was worried about lumps and bumps, but with high waisted leggings and a tank all in black underneath I think it worked out okay.

Free People Beach Ribbed Maxi Cardigan - Nordstrom Rack
M. Rena High Rise Leggings - Fancy Nancy's (boutique in Battle Creek)
Black Tank - Motherhood Maternity
Total Motion Ankle Strap Wedges - Rockport (gift)
Anthropologie Tassel Necklace - TJ Maxx
Jessica Simpson Sunglasses - TJ Maxx
Other ways I've worn this piece over the years..... I just love how versatile it is, and how comfy!
